Punk approach to lighting design

Lighting design is coveted by the design community. Can we create an open source platform to open it up, making better design more accessible for everyone?

Nomad Lighting was envisaged as the lighting hub for the urban nomad - those priced out of the housing market, habitually renting and moving. Originally imagined to be a lighting subscription service, the idea has evolved to open source hackable plans and distributed manufacture, with premium options available to order.

The first light in the range is a reworking of a classic design, brought forward to 20th century. A solid beam of hard light highlights the plant pot in the centre, with a soft glow to the surroundings. The central orb can be removed and used as a centre piece table lamp, minimising the number of clutter around a small dwelling.
