By building something with integrity, people feel a connection because they are able to understand it and find it engaging. Product forms should be derived from function, with an obvious structure and affordances for use. Embellishments can be added to draw interest to specific components or junctions.
When we play with an object we enjoy it. If we enjoy an object we are more likely to keep it for longer and be more drawn to use it more often. Engaging with an object through fun and intrigue adds interest to the user and crates a "special" experience.
Having a sense of ownership of an object makes us feel we full control of it, rather than it simply being something that we use and is controlled by someone else. We should feel we should have full ownership of how we use the product, and in its repairs or later modifications. This can come from having a greater understanding of its functionality, materials and design.
